ANNOUNCEMENT: DECISION TO LEAVE THE FIRST FILM
It is with regret that I announce my resignation from The First Film as Director, with immediate effect and after much deliberation.

Recent budgetary and production developments on the project have resulted in me having to make the toughest decision of my filmmaking career to date. A decision that I haven't taken lightly and one that I'm sure will come back to bite me on the arse one day.

I started on The First Film back in February and have enjoyed 8 months working on an incredibly fascinating story for an incredibly enthusiastic team. The highlight was working with David Nicholas Wilkinson, quite simply one of the most interesting characters I've ever met.

It has been a struggle for the production to raise the funds needed to make the documentary in tough economic times and without wanting to go in to too much detail, a recent budget announcement means I can no longer afford to be involved. There's still a lot of work to be done which requires a substantial commitment in time, effort and resources.

It goes without saying, but I am deeply disappointed. I've dedicated a lot to this project to now have to walk away.

The First Film has made considerable progress during my time as director and I would like to wish the team all the very best for the future.

Thanks

Danny

PREMIERE SCREENING NIGHT AND WORKSHOP WAS A SUCCESS
It was simply the biggest night of my filmmaking career and eases me in to phase 2 of my writing/directing development. There were close to 100 people that attended the Premiere Screening, it was incredibly nerve wracking sharing the three short films on the big screen in front of an audience for the first time. But we got through it in one piece and the feedback has been really good. Check out the full blog post on both events here.
